How to Care for your

 Mardi Gras Coconut

Dear Carnival Enthusiast,

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you from Mardi Gras Coconuts, for your purchase of the NEW Hand-Made "Mardi Gras Coconut" souvenir. Once you feel how light the new design is, you’ll know that, extraordinary quality, precision, time, skill and patience were used to create it. Display it with pride! Also remember that this coconut souvenir was prepared exclusively for you. You’ll be glad to know that part of your purchase for this souvenir goes to the improvement of the Mardi Gras experience here in New Orleans.

To help you keep and preserve your new personal trophy of Carnival art, we have prepared a few tips of what you can do to enjoy many years of enjoyment from your coconut.

  • Keep your souvenir dry, don’t get it wet or keep it in a high moisture area. Over time the moisture will break down the bonding agent.
  • Don’t keep your souvenir in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. The heat and UV light will break down the protective coating applied to the highly polished finished.
  • Do not apply furniture polish or other cleaning agents to the finish. Simple cloth wiping, or feather dusting will keep it dust free. There is no way to remove the build up of wax, which will be applied to the surface, from the spray.
  • When kept in a Curio, if lighted, please be sure the bulb is 30 watts or less, and kept at least 6 inches from the light source. The heat from the light source tends to dry out the shell, and cause cracking in the fabric paint.
  • Try to keep anyone who handles the coconut from touching the polished surface. The oil from your skin will eventually leave prints. The prints will be permanent because of the acid which is part of the oil
  • Don’t drop your souvenir, it is made of real coconut. The engraving process weakens the shell considerably, and if dropped on a hard surface, it will crack!

We’ve been doing business for over 5 years, and our collecting customers have always been our #1 priority. We guarantee your complete satisfaction on all our products. - You have my promise.
