2003: "Second Line"
The season of 2003 will be a great one indeed, and hopefully a new day in Carnival coconut art has dawned. This is our latest rendition of the coconut entitled " Second Line! ". It was designed for this season in a very special honoring of the groups during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
For those of you that haven't been to New Orleans, let us explain Second Lining. During a parade, the crowd, marchers, bands , etc are moving along the route, thrilling the crowds with beads music and costumes. It's really a sight to behold, and to some it's known as the "Main Line", of activity.
However, some individuals of that crowd which is lined up along the parade route follow some floats or bands, and others in the procession. Over the years this has become known as the "Second Line", and you can easily get caught up in the movement, which has a life all it's on!
Now there are groups and clubs that have come to be the "Main Line", of activities themselves, but these clubs pull people into their parades and are active year around.
Note: Any hand crafted, and/or natural product can not be reproduced in the same fashion exactly twice. This is because of the inherent defects that are unavoidable when a product is produced by hand.

| This is one of the new coconut pieces of the 2003 - 2004 Mardi Gras which will be held February 24th, 2004 this upcoming season. This coconut was especially made to be a one of a kind New Orleans Mardi Gras memento. Since each is real coconut, it has to be prepared by hand and the artisan must have considerable skill in order to make the souvenir last for a life time. You simply have to see this souvenir in person to see how beautiful they truly are! Even these pictures, as great as they are, do not do them the justice that the human eye will give to you!
Each souvenir is numbered and registered with the company when sold. Each artist piece comes with an Artist signed certificate of authenticity, bearing the number of registration. After the memento is selected for shape, in order to hold the intended image, it is emptied of it's meat and milk content. The keepsake is then carefully sanded, crafted and hand polished by a true master craftsman, to bring out the true beauty of the deep brown grain of the nut's shell.
Prepared for the Carnival season, these Limited pieces are to honor the New Orleans tradition of the "Second Line".
You should start your collection with this one of a kind coconut, and display this collector's edition piece, with pride. Because it's a unique item, found no where else but in New Orleans, will start a conversation every time, as people look in amazement of the amount of craftsmanship placed into a coconut.
